Written by Eckhart Tolle

Published on January 5, 2010

An interesting look changing from an ego-based state of consciousness to spiritual enlightenment. Tolle states in the beginning of the book that readers will pick up different insights when they read this book based on where they are in their lives and I have found this to be true.  There were parts of this book that I had a hard time fully understanding and other parts that seemed to right on target with issues I have dealt with or things I have observed.  That makes this the type of book that can be reread for additional insight. Tolle promotes letting go of ones self, being genuine, forgiving, loving and compassionate as a way to live life to its fullest.  A great recommendation for readers looking for reflective, spiritual information.

“Give up defining yourself – to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.”

Comments: For patrons just starting to look into books on spirituality or for those that found this book overwhelming I would recommend “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz
